Overseas players who make themselves unavailable for an IPL season after being bought at an auction without legitimate reasons will henceforth be penalised with two-year bans.
The request to act against players opting out after being bought at auctions had come from all ten IPL franchises during their meeting with the IPL governing council in July.
Disgruntled at their plans being thrown into disarray by late pullouts, the franchises asked the IPL to put in strong deterrents.
