Jackson Admits Injury Played Role in Prioritising 200m in Paris

Jamaica’s gold medal prospects at the Paris Olympics have been dealt a severe blow after Shericka Jackson admitted she’ll not run in the 100 metres.

The 200m World champion speaking at a media day put on by her shoe sponsors Puma, said the Injury she suffered on July in Hungary played a role in the decision.

Jackson pulled up near the finish in the women’s 200 metres at the Istvan Guylai meet and has not ran since.

Friday’s start of the 100 metres has come too quickly for Jackson and says she happy with the decision to give up the lane.

Jackson will now report to the start for the 200 metres with three extra days rest and fresher than had she ran the 100 metres as she chases her first individual Olympic gold.

She’s also warned not to expect any attempt at breaking the world record.

Meanwhile, national champion Kishane Thompson came through and impressive training session this morning that pleases his coach Stephen Francis.

In addressing whether Thompson will be able to deal with the mind games of rival Noah Lyles, Francis said this:
