The Jamaica Administrative Athletics Association, JAAA, has named a strong 63 member squad plus 13 reserves for the games of the 33rd Olympiad in Paris, France from July 26 to August 11.
The squad was released eight days after the National championships in Kingston.
New sprint sensation Kishane Thompson is one of a number of the squad attending their first Olympic games.
Two time and reigning World 100m hurdles champion Danielle Williams, Ackera Nugent, Janeek Brown, Shiann Salmon, Nickisha Pryce, JeVaughn Powell and Tia Clayton are among others making their first trip to the Olympics.
The 13 reserves are Alana Reid, Federick D’acres, Jelani Walker, Assinie Wilson Tyer Mason, Stephanie Ann McPherson, Megan Tapper, Andrennette Knight, Ashley Williams and Rusheen McDonald.
Sashalee Forbes and Bryan Levell were also named as reserves but they will be in the Olympic village as of right because they have also qualified for other events in the case of Levell the men’s 200m and Forbes the women’s 4x100m relays.
Fourteen officials, led by manager Ludlow Watts, will accompany the team inclusive of seven coaches.
The team is due to have a training camp in stuttgart Germany ahead of the games.
