Jamaica Secure 38-Straight Hold on CARIFTA Title

Members of Jamaica’s victorious Carifta Games team are due back on the island this evening at 6.30 after topping the medal table for a 38th straight time.

The team was originally due back at 4.50 this afternoon

The Jamaicans won a total of 84 medals more than half of that Gold, 45 with 23 Silver and 16 Bronze.

Four Jamaicans, Nickecoy Bramwell in the under 17 boys 400m, Robert Miller in the boys under 17 400m Hurdles, Javontae Smith in the under 17 boys Shot Put and Jaeda Robinson in the under 17 girls Triple Jump, all established new games records.

The Bahamas was next in the medals standings with 35 including Nine Gold, 13 Silver and 13 Bronze.

Trinidad and Tobago followed with 27 medals, Four gold, 11 Silver and 12 Bronze.

Hosts Grenada was the only other of the 20 countries to record a double digit medal haul with 13.

Team manager, Cherine Richard spoke to Nationwide Sports about another dominant Jamaica display.

Next year’s Carifta Games, the 52nd staging, is set for Trinidad and Tobago.
