Jamaica Still Winless After 3 Games At Regional U-19 Tournament

Defending champions Jamaica are still without a win after three games in the West Indies Rising Stars Under 19 cricket tournament.

Today they were forced to settle for a draw with the Leeward Islands in a rain interrupted game at Sion Hill.

Play on day got underway after a more than three hour delay and Jamaica who resumed on 15 for 3, declared their first innings on 90 for 9 in reply to the Leewards first innings 80 all out.

Steve Wedderburn made 28 against Michael Palmer 3 for 21.

Batting a second time the Leewards closed on 136 for 8 when the game was called off.

West Indies youth player Jewel Andrew made 65 against three wicket performances from Odel Samuels and Matthew Morgan.

Jamaica will face Guyana in the final round of league play at Arnos Vale starting next Tuesday.

Over at Arnos Vale Barbados scored a brilliant 9 wicket win over Guyana.

Guyana were bowled out this morning for 97 in reply to 201 for 9 declared made by Barbados and following on they were dismissed for 184 with Jonathan Van Lange getting 48.

Set 80 for victory Barbados raced to 81 for 1 in 13 overs.

The scheduled game at Conaree between the Windwards and Trinidad and Tobago was abandoned as for the second straight day there was no play.
