Jazz in the Gardens brings the curtains down with The Best of 2024

After being postponed last year due to inclement weather, Jazz in the Gardens: The Best of 2024 made its grand comeback at the Grand Jamaica Suite, drawing a packed audience of jazz lovers.

The evening was hosted by MC Vernon Darby, who set the tone before introducing cabaret sensation Tammy T. Dazzling in a striking yellow ensemble and backed by the legendary Fab 5, Tammy T captivated the audience with a soulful rendition of No One in This World. The enchantment continued with Soulchild Tanice, who, dressed in a stunning red sequinned gown, delivered a breathtaking performance of Time to Say Goodbye. Background vocalist Lisa Davis provided seamless support, adding depth and richness to the night’s musical experience.

The excitement escalated when Everton Pessoa & His Big Band made a grand entrance, enthralling the audience with their signature performance of ‘ A’ Train and getting guests dancing with an electrifying rendition of I’m Still in Love with You.

The magic of the night continued with celebrated jazz vocalist Bunny Rose, who serenaded the audience with heartfelt renditions of timeless classics such as Sound of Silence and You Are the Reason, creating an atmosphere of pure musical bliss.

Bringing the evening to an unforgettable close, the incomparable Gem Myers delivered a powerful and emotional performance of You’re Gonna Love Me, followed by a soulful rendition of the Pointer Sisters’ Slow Hand.

The Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation, V.O.U.C.H and The Best Care Foundation, were the recipients of the event’s philanthropy.

“We are very happy to be a part of the upliftment, and all our patrons are integral in contributing to that effort,” Shikima Hinds said while making the presentation to representatives from the entities.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Minister Fayval Williams and her family, lifestyle curator Cecile Levee, and artiste manager Victoria Hobbs-Meeks, accompanied by her partner Dr Leslie Gabay.
