The Jamaica Football Federation, JFF, has confirmed that former Trinidad and Tobago and Manchester United star Dwight Yorke is indeed one of the 40 on their long list looking to become the head coach of the Jamaica National Senior Football team.

The 52-year-old Yorke did not apply for the job himself, however his resume was sent to the federation indicating his interest in the post left vacant by Heimir Hallgrímsson who resigned a few weeks ago with two years still on his contract.

The Mirror newspaper in England first reported that Yorke is a popular choice of the English Premier League players in the Jamaica squad.

Yorke is currently the holder of a UEFA Pro Licence as well as his A Licence. The JFF has had upwards of 40 expressions of interest in the role they expect to fill by the end of August.

Meanwhile, the Technical Committee of the JFF, which will make the final recommendation to the board on their choice for coach, says the process is moving smoothly and they expect to final a short list of four in another day or two after which interviews will be conducted.
