The Jamaica Football Federation has suspended Leon Bailey from Reggae Boyz duty.

In a statement on Wednesday morning, the JFF says the Aston Villa winger, will be suspended from selection to the national senior men’s team after he declined their recent Copa America call up.

“This decision has been made in light of recent circumstances surrounding his comments and non-participation in the Copa America 2024 team, despite being selected,” said the statement.

The JFF says Bailey’s matter has been referred to their disciplinary and ethics committee.

“Consideration was also given to his stated desire to take a break from national duties, and suspending his selection will guard against any further miscommunication,” said the local football association.

“The JFF values the contributions of all players and respects their individual decisions regarding national team participation.”
