Aston Villa winger, Leon Bailey has been suspended from selection to the national team.

The Jamaica Football Federation, JFF said in a release this morning “This decision has been made in light of recent circumstances surrounding his comments and non-participation in the Copa America 2024 team, despite being selected.”

The release also said, “Consideration was also given to his stated desire to take a break from national duties, and suspending his selection will guard against any further miscommunication.”

Bailey has scored five international goals singe making his Reggae Boyz debut against Honduras in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.

The governing body for football in Jamaica said they value the contributions of all players and respects their individual decisions regarding national team participation.

The JFF have also referred this matter to the newly appointed Chairman of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, David Watt.
