Member of Parliament for North Central Clarendon, the Jamaica Labour Party’s, JLP, Robert Morgan, says he finds it difficult to understand the call by the People’s National Party, PNP, for the resignation of Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
The call is in response to the Integrity Commission’s report on the prime minister’s statutory declarations which was tabled in parliament this week.
At a press conference on Thursday, Opposition Leader Mark Golding said there is enough evidence to suggest the prime minister misled the public when questioned about whether he knew which parliamentarians were under investigation for illicit enrichment.
But Robert Morgan is rejecting this.
Minister Morgan says the Integrity Commission’s report did not conclude that the prime minister engaged in illicit enrichment.

Meanwhile, former PNP general secretary, Colin Campbell, maintains that there remains a cloud of suspicion over the prime minister’s financial affairs.
Campbell says it is highly unusual for a public official to remain in office while under investigation.
