JLP Spokesman Slams Golding’s SSL Comment as a ‘New Low’

The row between the governing Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, and the opposition People’s National Party, PNP, over culpability for the debacle at fraud hit brokerage house Stocks and Securities Limited, SSL, rumbles on.

Both parties have been trading claims about the level of government oversight at SSL, through the Financial Services Commission, amid rampant fraud that cost investors, including Usain Bolt, to lose billions of dollars.

A senior member of the JLP’s communications team, Senator Marlon Morgan has accused the opposition leader, Mark Golding, of attempting to make Jamaicans believe that Prime Minister Andrew Holness knew about the fraud at SSL during his time as an investor.

Senator Morgan says Mark Golding’s comments represent a low blow.

Senator Morgan says contrary to what the opposition leader claims, the JLP administration has taken steps to sort through the mess at SSL.

And Marlon Morgan says the misinformation about the SSL fraud being spread by the opposition leader, will only result in legal troubles for those PNP video bloggers producing content about the issue.
