President of the Jamaica Olympic Association, JOA, Christopher Samuda, says it didn’t come as a surprise that the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, rejected the appeal of the International Boxing Association, IBA, after the international Olympic Association, IOC, withdrew recognition.
IBA’s appeal against a decision to withdraw recognition of it as the sport’s international federation was dismissed.
In June, the IOC decided to strip the IBA of recognition for failing to complete reforms in governance, finance, and ethical issues.
Samuda says CAS supported the IOC request for the IBA to undertake various measures to address serious concerns related to their governance and financial stability.
Samuda says the IBA had not complied with the conditions set down by the IOC.
