Johnson Smith Defends Government’s ‘Solid & Credible’ Budget

Leader of Government Business in the senate, Kamina Johnson Smith, has defended the 2025/26 budget, describing it as both solid and credible.

Senator Johnson Smith, who is also the country’s foreign affairs minister, was piloting the Appropriations Bill 2025 in the Senate on Friday.

The bill sets out how funds will be allocated across various sectors and services.

She’s assuring Jamaicans that the government remains committed to responsible spending, aimed at strengthening the nation’s economy.

The minister says Jamaica’s economy is at its strongest point since independence, citing low inflation and a significant drop in unemployment as key indicators of progress.

Despite being an election year, Minister Johnson Smith says the government remains focused on delivering tangible improvements in the lives of Jamaicans.
