Reggae artist Julian Marley and producer Alexx Antaeus’ Jah Sees Them (Amapiano Remix) has been nominated for ‘Best Remixed Recording’ at the upcoming 67th annual Grammy Awards.
The announcement was made on November 8 following the Recording Academy’s nominations live-stream event.
The song, released in August this year via Monom Records and The Orchard/Sony, will compete against Charli XCX and Addison Rae’s Von Dutch A. G. Cook Remix, Doechii, Kaytranada and JT’s Alter Ego (Kaytranada Remix), Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso (Mark Ronson x FNZ Working Late Remix) and Shaboozey and David Guetta’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) (Remix).
Julian and Antaeus had won the Grammy Award for ‘Best Reggae Album’ with Colors of Royal at the 66th Grammy Awards last year.
The singer was previously nominated in the category for his albums Awake (2010) and As I Am (2020), while the nod marks Antaeus’ second nomination.
The original Jah Sees Them was the opening track on the Colors Of Royal album. The Amapiano Remix is described as “a high-energy club track, masterfully fuses Julian’s signature reggae sound with the pulsating rhythms of South Africa’s Amapiano genre.”
“The (Jah Sees Them) Amapiano Remix represents my deep passion for music beyond just reggae,” Julian said. “It’s a powerful fusion that bridges cultures and genres, reflecting my belief that music has no boundaries.”
Antaeus added, “This remix echoes our team’s dedication to creating timeless music that connects with listeners across generations. The track is a testament to our commitment to push the envelope and create sounds that resonate with the heart and soul, transcending borders.”
The song was produced by UK Producer/DJ Footsteps, Producer MrMyish, and Antaeus, while mixing and mastering were handled by Antaeus, along with Joe Maldonado and Alex Psaroudakis.
The remix’s official video has over 260,000 views on YouTube since its release two months ago. Directed by Damaniac Visualz, the video captures Julian and Antaeus in Jamaican locations like Kingston, Wickie Wackie Beach, and Port Antonio.
