KC, Mona, St Catherine High, XLCR Advance to Manning Cup QF

Former champions Kingston College are the first team through to the quarter-finals of the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup competition after coming from behind to beat Wolmers 3-1 in a group three round of 16 clash at Stadium East, on Tuesday.

After conceding an own goal from defender Christian Miles two minutes into the game, KC turned things around brilliantly in the second half with goals from Shereef Ricketts, Deshawn Byfield and Matrim Martin.

The win moved the Purples to six points and safely through to the last eight.

Coach Vassell Reynolds says his team is operating on a high level at the moment so he wasn’t worried when they fell behind.

In the other game in the group last season’s beaten finalist Hydel defeated St Andrew Technical High School 1-0 to move up to second in the standings.

Meanwhile, defending champions Mona High beat Campion College 2-1, St. Catherine beat Calabar High 3-1 to also book their spot in the quarter-finals.

Jamaica College beat Charlie Smith 4-0, Eltham beat Jonathan Grant 3-1, Excelsior beat Tivoli 2-0 and St George’s College beat St Jago 1-0.

Over the in the daCosta Cup Dinthill thrashed Happy Grove 6-1 at home, Kemps Hill and Garvey Maceo ended goalless and St Elizabeth Technical High School clobbered Alphansus Davis 5-1.
