Kensington and Westmoreland overpowered their opponents in the semifinals of the Kingston Wharves Under 15 Cricket Competition to book their spots in the final which will be played at the Ultimate Cricket Ground in Discovery Bay, St. Ann, on Friday.
A confident St. Mary, who won the competition in 2022 and made the final last year against Manchester hosted Kensington who has been waiting on their turn to take their first hold of the coveted trophy, travelled to Jack’s River in St. Mary for their semifinal match.
St, Mary won the toss and laboured to 74 all out in 34.4 overs on the back of 23 from Marcodean Dunn, 18 from Leonardo Silvera and 12 from Akeem Palmer.
Abraham Waugh three for six runs, Zachary Buchanan three for nine and Andrew Lloyd two for 22 were the pick of the bowlers.
Kensington roared back to overhaul the score when they made 75 for one to win the match by nine wickets.
The main contributors to the score were Zachary Buchanan 28 and Abraham Waugh 24, while Rhys Williams chipped in with 10 runs. Shavaughn Boyd was the lone wicket taker for 21 runs.
Melbourne travelled to Paradise in Westmoreland for their semifinal, but were skittled out for 28 in a low scoring match.
Westmoreland who posted the highest team scored this year of 365 in their quarterfinal match, were made to work for the win after losing six wickets for 29 runs.
Immediately following the final, 24 players will be selected to begin preparation for next year’s regional championship.
