English Women’s Soccer League outfit Leicester City has signed Jamaican international Chantelle Swaby on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old midfielder has agreed a two-year contract after leaving French club Fleury when her contract expired.
Swaby made 33 appearances across two seasons and helped Fleury finish fifth in the Premiere Ligue, the French top flight, last season.
Swaby started her career at the USA’s Sky Blue FC and had a one-year stint with Rangers in the Scottish Women’s Premier League, where she won the 2021-22 title.
Swaby says it’s always a dream of hers to play in the WSL for years now.
Swaby was part of the Jamaican squads which played at the last two women’s world cup finals and helped the team to a historic round of 16 spot at the last tournament.
The 2024-25 WSL season begins on 21 September.
