Levy Names Holloway, Alfred Among Favourites for World Athletics Awards

Sports analyst, Leighton Levy, says it will be a difficult job selecting the World Athletics male and female track athletes of the year .

The Kenyan pair of Beatrice Chebet and Faith Kipyegon, Julian Alfred of St. Lucia, Dominican Republic’s Marileidy Paulino, and the American pair of Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Gabby Thomas will battle for the women’s title.

Meanwhile, the American trio of Rai Benjamin, Grant Holloway and Noah Lyles are on the shortlist for the men’s crown.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway, Letsile Tebogo of Botswana and Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya are also on the list.

Levy believes it will be a three way fight among Chebet, Kipyegon and Alfred for the women’s title.

McLaughlin-Levrone had another stellar year, but Levy says she didn’t do enough to be considered a title favourite.

For the men’s award Levy is of the view that Holloway should win it.
