Defending champions Real Madrid suffered a crushing 3-1 defeat to Italian giants AC Milan in their European Champions League clash at the Santiago Bernabue today.
Milan took the lead after 12 minutes through Malik Thiaw. Madrid hit back in the 23rd minute from the spot with Vinicius Junior.
However Milan ran away with all three points with further goals from Alvaro Morata and Tijani Reijnders.
The shock of the day was in Portugal where former winners and reigning English champions Manchester City were spanked 4-1 by Sporting CP.
Victor Gyorkeres bagged a hatrick to destroy City who were losing their third straight game in all competitions.
No such problems for the English Premier League leaders Liverpool who blanked the German champions Bayer Leverkusen 4-nil at Anfield thanks to a hatrick from Luis Diaz and Celtics stopped RB Leipzig 3-1.
