Mandeville Mayor Chides Holness Over Efficiency Remark

Mayor of Mandeville and People’s National Party aspirant for Manchester Central, Donovan Mitchell, has criticized Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness over announcements he made in Manchester on the weekend.

During his address at the Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s awards banquet on Saturday, Dr. Holness said that municipal corporations will be first on the Streamlining Process for Efficiency and Economic Development, SPEED, Programme.

However, speaking at the Royal Flat divisional conference on Sunday, Mayor Mitchell accused the Prime Minister of being misleading in his reference to municipal authorities.

Mitchell pointed to the efficiency of the Manchester Municipal Corporation.

Meanwhile, Mayor Mitchell also criticized Dr. Holness for announcing a plan for the re-development and renaming of Brooks Park in Mandeville.

Mitchell says the focus should be on the upgrading of the Mandeville Market.
