Mayor of Port Maria and Chairman of the St. Mary Municipal Corporation, Fitzroy Wilson, has strongly criticised the senior administrative team of the corporation, accusing them of failing the citizens of the parish.
Mayor Wilson highlighted several shortcomings, citing a lack of performance and accountability across key areas.
He says even the Councillors were not informed about the contents of the Corporation’s Budget, which is supposed to be prepared by the administrative team.
He was speaking during the corporation’s monthly general meeting on Thursday.
Mayor Wilson is also raising concerns about the growing complaints from residents and councillors regarding the corporation’s failure to clean drains and clear roads.
He says a lack of coordination between chief executive officer, CEO, Ethlyn Douglas and Superintendent of Roads and Works, Dwayne Johnson, has caused delays in moving estimates into action.
Addressing the CEO directly, Mayor Wilson urged for better coordination and accountability within the team.
