McClaren Backs Reggae Boyz’ Speed and Athleticism Against the US

Coach of Jamaica’s national men’s senior football team, Steve McClaren, wants his players to utilise their superior speed and physicality when they face the United States on Thursday night at the National Stadium in the first leg of their Concacaf Nations League quarter-final starting at 8 o’clock.

McClaren says the country is blessed with wide players with blinding speed and can also mix it up with the best in defence. A combination, he says, can make life uncomfortable for the reigning Nations League champions.

Jamaica will be without Michail Antonio, who is out on card suspension, and both Bobby Reid and Ethan Pinnock, through injury.

However, the newest Reggae Boy, Issac Hayden of Newcastle United, who is set for his first minutes with Jamaica, says he’s looking forward to helping the team.
