Well known local security expert Jason McKay has been cleared by the courts to contest the Annual General Meeting and voting Congress of the St. Catherine Football Association scheduled for this weekend.
McKay was initially down to face the incumbent Elaine Walker Brown for the presidency on July 28, but the courts intervened after Royal Lakes F.C which plays in the St. Catherine Major League applied for an injunction to halt the process on the basis that the Association was in breach of several rules in the constitution.
A meeting was held to iron out the matters which included the General Secretary’s report, Financial Statements and Auditor’s Report alongside the notice for the Special General meeting.
The SCFA also conceded in their documents filed and before the court that they failed to circulate the list of candidates for the elections as required by their constitution.
McKay told Nationwide Sports today that he is happy the way has now been cleared for him to contest the elections and he is predicting a landslide.
McKay also mentioned that the current administration tried unsuccessfully to eliminate a number of registered voters from the process, but says they have been warned by the courts against the practice.
Jason McKay.
92 delegates are expected select the next St. Catherine F.A president at Sunday’s election scheduled for Cowan’s Ballroom on Old Harbour Road.
