KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC):
JAMAICA’S SARA Misir has never been one to follow the conventional path whether on a racetrack, jumping over obstacles on a showground, or, as is the case now, in the water.
A trailblazer in every sense, Misir has transitioned from the elegance of equestrian show jumping to the adrenaline of motorsports, and now, she’s making waves in the world of powerboating.
As the first Caribbean woman to compete in the revolutionary E1 Series, the world’s premier all-electric powerboat championship, Misir is once again shattering glass ceilings and inspiring a new generation of female athletes across the region.
Misir’s journey began in the competitive arena of equestrian show jumping, where she honed her discipline and determination as a teenager. However, her thirst for speed soon led her to the world of motorsports, where she made history as the first female driver to represent Jamaica in circuit racing.
Her dominance on the track earned her a reputation as a formidable competitor not just in the Caribbean but on the international stage. Now, she is setting her sights on a new frontier: the high-octane world of powerboating.
As a member of Team Blue Rising, co-owned by Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli, Misir is at the forefront of a global initiative to transform marine racing through sustainable innovation.
The E1 Series, which was launched in 2024, features cutting-edge electric-powered RaceBird boats designed for speed, agility, and eco-friendliness.
For Misir, this new chapter is about more than personal achievement. It is about proving that Caribbean women can excel in any arena, no matter how unconventional.
“I’ve always believed that Caribbean women can dominate any sport, regardless of the challenges. From the track to the water, we belong on every podium. Representing Team Blue Rising is an incredible honour, especially under the leadership of someone like Virat Kohli, who understands what it takes to compete at the highest level. This is about showing young girls back home that their dreams have no limits.”
Misir has already made her mark in the E1 Series. During her debut in Season 2, she competed in two legs, including a standout performance in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
As a rookie, she raced her way to the finals and secured Team Blue Rising’s first-ever podium finish, a testament to her skill, determination, and fearless approach.
