Moreland Wilson’s Future in Western Westmoreland Uncertain

Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, leader and prime minister, Andrew Holness, says the matter of who will represent the party in Western Westmoreland at the next general election remains unsettled.

The sitting member of parliament is Morland Wilson.

Wilson won the seat for the JLP for the first time in history, beating the People’s National Party’s Dr. Wykeham McNeill in the general election on September 3, 2020.

Prime Minister Holness was speaking with the media following a meeting of party workers at the Grange Hill High School last Friday.

That meeting followed a yes/no consultation process across five divisions in the constituency: Little London, Sheffield, Grange Hill, Negril, and Friendship.

Of the 100 JLP delegates who participated, just over a third endorsed Wilson’s bid to stand for the party at the next election.

Holness says last Friday’s meeting also gave party workers a chance to get answers to questions about the schedule for road works in the constituency.
