Member of Parliament for West Westmoreland, the JLP’s Morland Wilson, has narrowly won a consultation process to determine if party workers would support him as party’s candidate at the next general election.
The process took place in the five divisions in the constituency – Little London, Sheffield, Grange Hill, Negril, and Friendship on Sunday.
Preliminary counts indicate that Wilson secured more than one-third of the votes of more than 1-hundred delegates across the constituency.
Member of the JLP’s campaign team for Western Westmoreland, Venesha Phillips, said the results are an indicator that all is not well in the constituency.
Phillips noted that poor road conditions remain the main obstacle being faced by constituents.
However, she says work is being done by Wilson’s camp

In September 2020, Morland Wilson won the seat for the first time on behalf of the JLP.
Wilson obtained more than 6-thousand votes to beat his then-opponent from the Opposition PNP, Wykeham McNeill.
