National Stadium Redevelopment Budget Set at US $100M

Minister of Sports, Olivia Grange, says her ministry is determined to present to the nation, a redeveloped National Stadium.

During her Sectoral Presentation in the House of Representatives today, Minister Grange says a world-class facility that meets the regulatory requirements of international sports federations is among the plans of her ministry.

She says the redevelopment of the 62-year-old National Stadium will cost US$100million.

Minister Grange says the government of Jamaica recently signed a framework for corporation with the government of the United Kingdom.

She says this framework establishes a basis for both sides to collaborate and corporate for the purpose of financing projects in Jamaica involving exports from the United Kingdom for the purpose of achieving the economic development objective of Jamaica.

Minister Grange says the redevelopment of the National Stadium is among the priority projects listed to be addressed with ground breaking set for August 2025.

She says her ministry has also taken steps to address the lightIng issue at the national stadium.
