Minister of Sports, Olivia Grange, announced that lighting has been significantly improved at the National Stadium.
The Government spent $19.63 million to install the lights to ensure that the facility meets the FIFA standard for broadcasting.
Speaking after a lighting test conducted at the National Stadium, Minister Grange said the light level had met the international standard.
As a result of the improvement in the lighting, Jamaica is now in line to host Concacaf matches including club matches to be followed by the Reggae Boyz versus Cuba on September 6.
Minister Grange said the Government intends to continue to improve the National Stadium not only to address the shortcomings of the existing facility, but also to identify its full potential as a major tournament venue, training centre and visitor attraction to promote Jamaica and Jamaican sporting talent.
