The West Indies have been knocked out of the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup, losing by eight runs to New Zealand in Sharjah.
The West Indies were chasing 129 to book their place in Sunday’s final.
In a nail-bitting encounter, New Zealand posted 128 for 9 to open proceedings. Georgia Plimmer top scored for the Kiwis with 33 runs. Plimmer was supported by Suzie Bates, 26, and Izzy Gaze 20 not out.
Deandra Dottin took four wickets for 22 runs. She was supported by Affy Fletcher, Affy Fletcher, 2 for 23, and Karishma Ramharack, 1 for 11.
Deandra Dottin led the West Indies chase, top scoring with 33. Captain Haley Matthews getting scored 15 and Stafanie Taylor finished the game with 17 not out.
The Windies ultimately fell short by eight runs after 20 overs.
Eden Carson took three wickets for 29 runs. Amelia Kerr bagged 2 for 14 and Suzie Bates took 1 for 6.
New Zealand has set up a mouthwatering clash with South Africa in Sunday’s final.
