Norman Scott Accuses JLP of Trying to Oust Him as Mayor

Mayor of Spanish Town, Norman Scott, has accused the governing Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, of trying to evict him from the St Catherine Municipal Corporation.

He was speaking at the caretaker presentation of the People’s National Party’s, PNP, Damion Crawford in North West St. Catherine on Sunday.

Mayor Scott says the PNP will not allow the JLP to use parliament to accomplish what it has failed to do at the ballot box.

Last week, the government tabled a legislation in the House of Representatives to transform Portmore into the country’s 15th parish.

The opposition PNP says it will proceed to court, if necessary, to thwart the government’s efforts.
