Former technical director of Jamaica’s football, Rene Simoes, is among those who have applied for the job to be head coach of the men’s national senior team.
Simoes guided Jamaica historically to their only appearance at the senior World Cup finals in France 1998.
The Brazilian ended his six years in charge in 2000, but returned for a second stint in 2008.
However, it is understood that the technical team is not keen on a third time for Simoes.
Meanwhile, former Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær is believed to be the front runner for the job.
Solskjær is reportedly among the shortlist of four or five candidates to be interviewed for the post.
Solskjær and his former Manchester United team mate Dwight Yorke are two of the biggest names among the initial 40 who showed interest.
The post was left vacant less than a month ago following the resignation of Heimir Hallgrímsson.
