Jamaica’s track and field athletes will bow into action at the Paris Olympics on August 2.

The programme will begin with the women’s high jump at 3:15 am Jamaica time, followed by the women’s 100-metres at 4:50.

However, several of the MVP athletes have been training in secret since arriving in Paris, leaving Jamaica and the rest of the world to speculate about their fitness.

But head coach of MVP, Stephen Francis, says there’s nothing to fear.

Usain Bolt, at the 2016 Rio Games, was the last Jamaican man to win the 100 metres at a global event.

National champion Kishane Thompson is seen as the country’s best chance to break that drought. But some are wondering if he’ll be able to handle the pressure.

Francis says the main factors that determines where a person finish in a race are speed and execution.

He says because of Tia Clayton’s youth, it’s hard to predicts what she’ll do.

Stephen Francis.
