The Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ, says the country is unlikely to meet its sustainable development target of achieving first-world status by 2030.

That’s according to Vision 2030 programme director Peisha Bryan.

Vision 2030 is the country’s first long-term strategic development plan and covers the 21-year period from 2009 to 2030.

It embodies the plans and processes for the realization of a collective vision, encapsulated in the statement; “Jamaica, the place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business.”

However, Ms. Bryan says the vision is broader than the timeline itself.
