PM says Media Should Be Respected as a Pillar of Democracy

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the media ought to be respected as an important pillar of the Jamaican democracy.

He made the statement at Jamaica House Tuesday evening at an appreciation event for media practitioners.

While conceding that there are outliers, Dr. Holness says his administration is committed to respecting the media.

In a further post on his Instagram, Dr. Holness wrote that a strong media is essential to providing transparency, accountability, and an informed public.

He says the profession is invaluable to national development.
