As the government’s community road rehabilitation programme, SPARK , is set to get underway, Prime Minister Andrew Holness is urging local contractors to participate in the bidding process.
Speaking in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Mr. Holness says the tender period will close on Friday.
The Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to Our Road Network, SPARK, will see $40 billion spent on modernising more than two-thousand roads across Jamaica.
It will target community, parochial and secondary roads.
Mr. Holness says the works will be apportioned into four distinct segments for bidding.
Meanwhile, Mr. Holness is encouraging members of parliament to give their full support to community consultations being held under SPARK.
