The opposition PNP has chided the government for failing to properly honour the former Clerk to the Houses of Parliament, Valrie Curtis.
Acting Leader of Opposition Business, Fitz Jackson, raised the issue after the new clerk, Colleen Lowe, was welcomed by members of the House of Representatives.
Ms Curtis, who was appointed Clerk to the Houses of Parliament on July 23, 2021, retired last Saturday.
She departed under a cloud after House Speaker, Juliet Holness, took the rare step of upbraiding her in a letter, accusing Ms. Curtis of dereliction of duty.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness responded to Fitz Jackson, telling him Ms. Curtis will be accorded the proper parliamentary honour at an appropriate time.
Prime Minister, Andrew Holness.
