Opposition Spokesman on Transport, Mikael Phillips, is chiding the government for its failure to improve the country’s road infrastructure after eight years in office.
Phillips made the comments on the weekend at a People’s National Party meeting in St. Elizabeth.
The much touted SPARK programme was first announced in November 2023. But work has yet to begin, almost one year later.
Without giving an exact date, Prime Minister Andrew Holness told the House in a recent sitting that a preferred contract bidder has been identified, and work is set to begin this quarter.
Meanwhile, the government had indicated that work under the post-hurricane Beryl REACH programme, has been delayed due to adverse weather conditions.
But Phillips is not satisfied.
