PNP Claims Funds form Screen Development Initiative Not Going to Local Filmmakers

Opposition Spokesperson on Culture and Creative Industries, Dr. Deborah Hickling Gordon, wants the government to show how it has allocated funds under the $1 billion Jamaica Screen Development Initiative for the 2024/25 budget year.

Hickling Gordon alleges the funds were not disbursed to local filmmakers as promised. She says the Ministry of Culture needs to be transparent in its administration of the fund.

Meanwhile, Dr Hickling-Gordon, claims there is an absence of overarching cultural economy policy which has compounded the issue.
