PNP Moves to Dismiss ‘Spurious’ Claims from Ousted Caretaker

The Opposition People’s National Party, PNP, have moved to dismiss as spurious, extraordinary claims made by its former caretaker in Central Kingston, Lawrence Rowe.

This after Rowe used social media to outline the process which ended up with him being removed as caretaker.

Rowe claims that in exchange for accepting the PNP’s decision without showing dissent, party President Mark Golding promised him an appointment as a government senator, appointment to the board of a housing agency and $15 million in resources.

Rowe made the claims in a post on Facebook last Saturday.

But in a response on Monday evening, over 48 hours later, the PNP rejected the claims as spurious. The PNP says while such claims may spark political intrigue for some, they contradict the party’s long-standing policies and practices.

It says the party remains focused on upholding the principles of transparency and good governance.

The PNP says the matter will be addressed at a time convenient to the party.

The PNP ended its statement by encouraging the public and media to focus on the party’s continued efforts to serve the people of Central Kingston with integrity and dedication.

Former Senior Superintendent of Police, Steve McGregor has since been announced as the PNP’s new caretaker in Central Kingston.
