The People’s National Party, PNP, is rapping Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, leader Andrew Holness for what it says is his failure to condemn party member, Everald Warmington for attacks on the media.
In a statement to the media on Tuesday morning, the PNP made reference to the Jamaica Labour Party’s, JLP, Area Council Two conference on Sunday where Mr Warmington repeated previous comments that the RJR/Gleaner media group has had an agenda to take down JLP-led administrations.
Opposition Spokesperson on Information, Nekeisha Burchell, says Warmington’s rhetoric was inflammatory.
On Sunday, West Portland MP Daryl Vaz took the stage after Warmington.
He attempted to bring party supporters back from the brink; telling them not to be distracted by issues with the media but to focus instead on getting votes out.
Holness, who took the stage later, spoke broadly about press freedom, but did not directly point to Warmington.
The PNP says he should have.
Miss Burchell says the PNP uses professional routes to register discontent with media coverage.
