PNP Senator Says Rowe’s Hush Money Claims are Hard to Believe

1 week ago 11

Opposition Spokesperson on Justice, Senator Donna Scott Mottley says People’s National Party president, Mark Golding, has denied offering Lawrence Rowe money to quietly walk away as party caretaker for Central Kingston.

Senator Scott Mottley was speaking on Nationwide at Five on Thursday. She says Lawrence Rowe’s claims are difficult to believe.

Rowe says Golding agreed to appoint him as a government senator, appoint him to the board of a housing agency and provide him with $15 million in resources in exchange for quietly accepting the decision to replace him as caretaker in Central Kingston.

The PNP has not denied those claims. In a statement earlier this week, it responded to his claim about monetary offers, calling it spurious.

But Rowe says he has hard evidence to support his claim.

The PNP has said it would address the matter at a time convenient to the party.

Senator Scott Mottley believes it’s in the party’s best interest to settle the matter quickly given the ongoing public discourse.
