Low, desperate and disgusting!
That’s how opposition senator, Gabriela Morris, has described the Jamaica Labour Party’s, JLP, decision to accept the membership application submitted by Central Westmoreland member of parliament, George Wright.
She was speaking at a PNP Press briefing earlier on Tuesday.
In a statement on Sunday, the governing JLP confirmed George Wright was reinstated as a member of the party.
Wright resigned from the party in June 2021 amid public pressure over a viral video which showed a man beating a woman with a stool.
Wright was alleged to be the man seen on the video. But there was never any admission from Wright and the police never filed any charge against him.
According to the party, the decision was made to reinstate Wright following what it describes as “mitigating actions” he has since taken.
Senator Morris says abuse should not be tolerated.
