Junior opposition spokesman on health, Jesse James Clarke, is commending the 607 Jamaicans who recently received the Barry Wint scholarship.
The Barry Wint Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to students enrolled in a wide range of healthcare disciplines.
It will ensure that more Jamaicans have access to the education they need to contribute to the nation’s health sector.
In a statement on Monday, Clarke said the achievement shows that students are dedicated to pursuing careers in healthcare.
He says this will, in the future, help to further develop Jamaica’s healthcare system.
Clarke says that in 2022, he made calls for the government to facilitate free education for Jamaican students pursuing medical studies.
He says the Barry Wint Memorial scholarship is a step in the right direction.
