The Opposition People’s National Party, PNP says it will only contest the two divisional by-elections set for November 22.
The divisions were made vacant following the passing of PNP Councillor Rohan Bryan in Morant Bay, St. Thomas and JLP Councillor Marjorie McLeod-McFarlane in Aenon Town, Clarendon.
As it relates to the constituency by-elections, PNP General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell, told our news centre that given that the JLP is nearing the end of its term, it would be a better spend to call the general elections.
Dr. Campbell also questioned the JLP’s decision to reinstate Mrs Dalrymple-Philibert as its candidate of choice for South Trelawny when her Integrity Commission matter, that led to her resignation as MP, is still before the courts.
