On Saturday, February 24, Reggae artiste Protoje via his company Indiggnation Collective hosted the second staging of the ‘Lost In Time Festival’ at Palm Drive, Hope Gardens in Kingston/St. Andrew, Jamaica.
While the night seemingly for the most part went well, the show came to an abrupt ending at the stroke of midnight with Protoje lashing out at the government before dropping the mic and exiting the stage, unhappy with the ending.
The Lost in Time Festival, as per the event’s website, “is a cultural and creative mecca, showcasing the best in local music, art, craft, and food. Hosted in the beautiful Hope Gardens in Kingston.”
This year’s show featured performances from Protoje, Lila Iké, Jesse Royal, Romain Virgo, Jah9, Sevana, Ras-I, Samory I, Jahshii, Popcaan, Stone Boy, Agent Saco, Valiant, Govana, Masicka and many more.
On Saturday night, as the show boils down, multiple artistes were performing on stage, including Popcaan, Jessie Royal and Protoje.
Popcaan was performing one of his hit songs when Protoje took to the front of the stage and said, “Jamaica dem seh no more, mek sure unuh government know seh we need Reggae music fi play inna Kingston.”
Fellow entertainer I-Octane along with several others reacted to the abrupt ending of the show. Octane wrote, “Jamaicans a vote fi a government weh a fight dancehall and Reggae Music.” See more reactions below:
