Wolmerian Kai Radcliffe has set his sights on the 15-16 record of 31.57 set by Campion’s Bryce Butler in 2015.

Last season, Radcliffe won the CARIFTA 13-14 boys breaststroke Gold in the 50 and 100 metre events.

He also set the national 13-14 100 metre breaststroke record of 1:09.31.

Last year he set the 13-14 record 32.32 seconds and won the open 100 breaststroke in 1:10.26.

The open meet record is held by Kito Campbell formerly of Calabar now at Indian River State College at 1:07.42.

Radcliffe swept all three 50 metre breaststroke races last high school season at the ISSA, ASAJ and Mayberry meets.

Meanwhile, another standout to look out for at this year’s edition of the ISSA meet will be Montego Bay High School’s Leanna Wainwright.

Wainwright will be competing in the 50, 100 and 200 metre freestyle, 50 metre butterfly and 50 metre backstroke.

She has the most senior international experience having competed at the PanAm Games and World Short Course championships.

She holds junior records for Jamaica in both the 25 and 50 metre pools.

Last year she set the 17 and over record in the 50 metre backstroke at 30.55 seconds and the 100 metre freestyle record at 1:01.84.

Wainwright will be looking to better the 17 and over record in the 50 metre freestyle of 27.40 seconds set last year by Aliyah Heaven of Campion and the fastest overall time of the meet of 27.13 seconds set by Christanya Shirley formerly of Immaculate now at the prestigious Bolles school in Florida.

For the 100 metres freestyle she will be aiming to become the first school girl under a minute at this competition.

The fastest time at the meet was set in the 13-14 age group by Zaneta Alvaranga formerly of Immaculate in 2019.

Leanna is also the fastest high school girl of all time with her national 50 backstroke record of 30.10 seconds set at the Mayberry meet last year.
