Rafael pushes back schoolgirl netball

THE START of the second round in both the ISSA Urban and Rural Schoolgirl Netball competitions, slated to get under way today and tomorrow, has been moved back to next week.

The urban competition was expected to begin today at the Leila Robinson Courts, and the rural competition was scheduled for the following day at five venues across the island.

The Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association, as they did with schoolboy football competitions, which will begin tomorrow instead of on Tuesday, has decided that games could not continue as planned.

ISSA netball coordinator Joan Walker said the organisation had no other choice but to postpone all matches that were slated for this weekend.

‘’Following a meeting with the stakeholders, we had to carry the matches scheduled for today and tomorrow to next Monday and Tuesday. Several of the schools have been affected by the weather as most of the schools are yet to reopen due to damage at their facilities, forcing students to have online classes,” said Walker.

When the urban area competition gets going on Monday, it will do so without two schools, Gaynstead and St Hugh’s High School, as their respective coaches, Dalton Hinds and Nardia Hanson, are on national duties in New Zealand with the senior Fast5 team.
