Red Bull Jamaica is pushing the boundaries of live music with Red Bull Selector, an event that forces DJs to think on their feet and adapt in real-time. Set for March 15 at UWI Carnival’s ‘D’ Aftermas’, this marks the first time the event will take place in the Caribbean.
The high-energy showdown challenges DJs as the audience controls the music selection. Brush1, dubbed the ‘Road Marshal’, will host, with Soca DJ and producer Travis World headlining alongside Jamaica’s popular DJ collective, Chromatic, featuring Creep Chromatic and JR Chromatic.
Travis World will represent Trinidad & Tobago at the inaugural event. A renowned Soca producer, he has worked with artistes like Machel Montano, Patrice Roberts, and Destra Garcia, and was nominated as International DJ of the Year at the 2024 Caribbean Music Awards.
Representing Jamaica is the popular DJ sound system, Chromatic, featuring Creep Chromatic and JR Chromatic. Creep, a key figure in Jamaica’s DJ movement, has performed at major events like Coachella, SOLE Dubai, and Boiler Room, and has worked with artistes like Drake, Cardi B, and Dua Lipa. JR, a leading member of Chromatic, has electrified global stages, including Jimmy Fallon and Red Bull Culture Clash, and is known for his dynamic hosting and energy.
In a bold redefinition of the DJ experience, Red Bull Selector hands control to the audience, flipping the script on traditional DJ performances where the DJs set the playlist. Using red and blue voting tools, attendees guide the musical direction in real-time, shifting between themes and genres like Soca vs. Dancehall or Old School vs New School.
“The space where Soca and Dancehall meet is in need of constant innovation. I think Red Bull Selector will be one of those moments – an all-star Caribbean DJ cast hosted by Jamaica’s top touring MC means a little bit of everything for the patrons. No island will be left behind because there will always be someone on stage representing,” said Brush1.
