⁠Robinson Urges Gov’t to Settle Public Sector Compensation Issues

Opposition Spokesman on Finance, Julian Robinson, is urging the government to quickly settle outstanding compensation issues affecting the Public Sector.

He made the critique as part of his Budget Presentation on Thursday.

According to Mr. Robinson two years on there’re still vexing issues affecting the public sector due to the restructuring exercise undertaken by the government.

He says travelling officers have been the most negatively affected by the process.

The opposition spokesman says the restructuring has also left several supervisors earning less than the employees they oversee. Mr. Robinson says the issues are causing demoralisation in the public service.

During his own budget presentation, Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke acknowledged that there are outstanding issues affecting the public sector and vowed to have them corrected.

However, Mr. Robinson says the approach adopted by the government has left many workers feeling hurt and disrespected.
