Half-year sales of the Jamaica rum brands owned by Campari Group increased by nine per cent to €79 million ($13.1 billion).
Globally, the Jamaica rums portfolio, inclusive of the Appleton and Wray & Nephew brands, represented five per cent of total sales for Campari Group. The Italian company operates one of the largest spirits businesses in the world, which made €216 million in half-year profit on €1.5 billion in sales. Group profit remained flat over the previous year, but sales rose by 4.5 per cent.
“Appleton Estate continued its journey to become the ultimate luxury rum, engaging consumers in a series of high touch rum master classes at the world’s most prestigious art fair, Art Basel in Switzerland. In terms of innovations and exclusively for the Canadian market, Appleton Estate launched an eight-year-old Double Cask rum, an innovative rum finished in Speyside scotch barrels; while one of the rarest and most exclusive releases of the collection to date, the Appleton Estate Hearts Collection, 1998 release, was launched with successful press tastings and events across the European markets,” Campari said in its financial report.
Campari operates in Jamaica through J. Wray & Nephew Limited.
